Black History Month 2023 is here, and the start of something new at Oh So Lovely Blog.
I’m now going to be designing and sharing heritage month wallpapers each month along with my free monthly desktop wallpapers!
This afternoon I had the nicest email from a regular wallpaper user, Ragine, asking me if I’d ever be open to sharing heritage month wallpaper versions, and that was an immediate YES!
I went into action this evening designing 10 options in Sunday and Monday starts and no calendar options as well.
Black History Month is a yearly celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in US history.
The colors red, black, green, and yellow are tied with the celebration of Black History Month in the United States. The origins are be traced back to early 20th century Pan-Africanism and the Ethiopian national flag. The vibrant colors are not only decorative, but symbolize so much more.
- Black – Represents the resilient people whose existence as a nation is honored and affirmed by the existence of a flag.
- Red – Symbolizes the blood of innocent Black lives that has been shed throughout history.
- Yellow – Stands for optimism, justice and equality for everyone.
- Green – Symbolizes Africa’s rich greenery and other natural resources.
Let’s take a look at the Black History Month 2023 options below, shall we!

I personally prefer not having a calendar most of the time in case I want to leave them up longer than a month.

How to set up desktop background in Windows
The simplest way to set a picture as the desktop wallpaper is to open it so that you can see the image, and then right-click it to choose Set as desktop background. This option is also available when you right-click the picture file in Windows Explorer – you don’t even have to open the picture to set it as the desktop background.
