We’ve been mattress shopping for the last couple of months and finally decided on a king size NECTAR Sleep Mattress due to the affordable price, 365 night trial, free shipping and returns, and the forever warranty—too good to pass up in our opinion. I’m sharing an honest NECTAR mattress review in case you’re mattress shopping as well.
A few weeks ago we received the mattress on our doorstep—two weeks earlier than we expected it, which was a very nice surprise.
We had slept on an almost 15+ year old king sized mattress. It was ok, but both Ted and I started to develop back pain. It also was a giant PAIN to move since it is about 300 lbs I’d guess.
On to the review….
We easily drug it upstairs to the bedroom and got to work.
We propped the heavy, old mattress up along the wall and moved the wood slat supports to be better balanced. Unfortunately our bed frame is a pretty cheap-o one, and we do hope to replace it one of these days to make it more sturdy and to update the look of the room. I love a nice light-colored upholstered headboard.

We unrolled the outside bag…
And then unzipped the inner bag revealing our new mattress.
Once it was unbagged we had one more layer of plastic wrap to open using the provided opening tool.
We unrolled it flat over the bed and removed the wrap.
We are actually thinking about buying a 6″ or so deep box spring to raise the mattress up a little bit. The gap in between the headboard isn’t ideal for us, but we will take care of that eventually—definitely not a deal breaker.
After we placed the mattress we gave it some time to start to expanding back up to full size from being compressed for shipping. After about three hours it was pretty much to full size—nice and plush. We read that the materials in the mattress are super premium, but to expect about 1-3 days for it to fully breath after unpacking.
Some people sometimes say that they can smell a slight foam aroma (typical of high quality medical grade foams, and not unhealthy by any means), but we didn’t notice that at all with our mattress. That was a pleasant surprise.

Ted was the first to try it out, and was immediately happy with our decision to get a NECTAR mattress. What a relief!
Vivienne joined in on the test drive, and told us she thought it was “so comfortable.”
And like a true toddler, she was eager to start jumping…
And here is a shot of the bed all made our first sleep. I am not usually a bed maker, but now I don’t mind making it as much. Theres nothing better than crawling into a made bed…especially when the sheets are clean and fresh.
I highly recommend NECTAR! We’ve slept so much better and waking up with no back pain. That’s exactly what we were hopping for!
