Halloween fireplace decor! One of my favorite holidays to decorate for is Halloween, and I usually start with the fireplace mantle and wall.
Here was our fireplace decor before – pretty simple:
And here it is step-by-step decorating for Halloween:
I like to start with my go-to plug-in fairy lights. All I do is lay the lights out pretty evenly across the mantle.
Note: I own multiple sets of these fairy lights. I even use them outside in my swag garland during the holidays. They’ve held up great for 6+ years.
Then I bring back the candles and add lots of colorful ceramic and felt mini pumpkins.
I’ve collected these pumpkins over the years from the Target dollar spot, but you can find similar options here.
After they’re all placed I shuffle them around until I feel good about the color nd placement.
I kept this look for a couple days, but then decided to add in my trusty plastic bats that I have reused for the last five years.
To adhere these to the wall I use painter’s tape and also this non-damaging adhesive (aka boogar/fugitive glue). I love these two hanging methods because it doesn’t damage the wall like other adhesives I’ve used in the past.
Simply stick your bats on the wall in whatever pattern you prefer. I usually like to go left to right from largest to smallest.
These bats make such an affordable impact in our Halloween fireplace decor.
That’s it – step back and admire your work!
I love that this project usually takes me less than 20 minutes from start to finish, but it is such a fun focal point.
The cute pumpkin pillow was found in the Target Dollar Spot recently – I love how it coordinates.
Here’s how the fireplace decor looks during the daytime hours.
What do you think? Do you use bats like these in your Halloween decor?
I like to use fairy light sin other areas in our house as well. They always make everything feel extra festive!

To uplight the decor pieces on the table, I used two affordable display lights – one warm set under the glass pumpkin and a color changing set under the glass jellyfish. Both color options come together in one set.
These display lights are my absolute favorite, and they make our entryway feel so magical at night.
The colorful lights automatically rotate colors making it so easy.
I use the same adhesive from the fireplace decor to stick bats inside my lamps for a fun effect.
