DIY // LAVENDER BODY BUTTER

This winter weather really dries out my skin, and I’ve found that coconut oil is pretty much the only thing that helps my skin.

I decided to whip up some DIY lavender body butter for myself, and the best part—it only took a couple minutes and only required two ingredients. I loved it so much I gave them out to my family at Christmas.

Let’s get started by gathering your ingredients and supplies…

Ingredients:
Coconut oil (any will work)
Your favorite essential oil

Supplies:
Mixing bowl
Hand mixer
Spoon

Spoon out your desired amount of coconut oil into the mixing bowl. You’ll want the coconut oil to be solid, not melted.

Add your desired amount of essential oil. I used about 20 drops in this mixture, buy you might like yours lighter or more strongly scented. I like the lavender scent because it helps with stress and helps me sleep better.

Take your hand mixer, and mix for a minute until the mixture becomes fluffy and whipped.

Spoon it into your favorite glass jar. I prefer cute mini mason jars with golden lids.

Pack the mixture into the jar and tap the base of the jar on the table to help the mixture settle.

I wanted to create some cute simple labels, so I grabbed my fave washi tape and sharpie. Easy as that.

And there you have it, your very own body butter.TIPS:

* The butter goes on a little greasy, but soaks in pretty quickly. If you think it’s too greasy feeling, you can apply in the shower and rinse it off. You still get the great moisturizing effects.

* I also put this butter on my feet at night, and then put on some thick socks. I wake up with very smooth feet. 🙂

* Just a warning, the coconut oil mixture does harden in the jar after a day or two, and loses some of the whipped texture, but it’s still just as effective. 🙂

Enjoy, and Happy New Year!!

  9. I have Laveneder Essendial oil and need to go out and buy some more Coconut Oil, (just used the last of mine 2 days ago in a 4 ingredient coconut bar yum). Thanks so much Audrey for sharing your Body Butter Recipe. I can't wait to whip some up and use it. My skin and especially my feet are starving for moisture. (Coconut Oil worked when my hair was long and super curly, and kept my hair from drying out, and the curls from frizzing too much. So it must work just as well everywhere else).
