Hello! Today I’m showing you how easy it is to make a super cute and affordable DIY dip dyed tank top—perfect for spring and summer!
Last week I was back on KCTV5’s Better Kansas City with this tutorial, and it should air in the next week or two. I’ll post that video once it airs (I’ve been on the show about 25 times, and this was my first non-live segment, so not 100% sure what to expect).
Here’s a shot from the segment.
OK, let’s gather our supplies and get to work!
+ Tumble Dye Spray
+ Mixing utensil
+ Bowl of warm/lukewarm water
+ Light colored tank top (or whatever else you wish to dip)
In case you’re wondering, I got my super soft tank tops at Gordman’s on clearance for around $2 each, and I wanna go back and buy more.
I decided to do this tutorial as a video rather than using still photos. As I mentioned last week I’m working on using my YouTube channel for my DIY tutorials much more often moving forward. Let me know which way you prefer to get your tutorials in the future.
Hopefully the video helps you understand the steps better than stills would.
I really like the way they turned out, and I think they’ll get easier the more I try.
One thing to note: I didn’t discard my extra dye. I simply poured it into a gallon carton with a lid for future use. Hopefully it stores well, and can be used again. I’ll report back on that later.
What do ya think? Anyone ever tried dip dyeing? It’s so addicting—I wanna dip everything I see, ha!
PS. Stay tuned for a spray dyed flower pot tutorial in the future. This one was even easier, and I love how it turned out as well. They made their TV debut as well. 🙂
