TRASH TO TREASURE // MY FAVORITE FURNITURE PIECES

I was invited by Havenly to share some pictures showing how I highlight my favorite furniture pieces in my home—I jumped at the opportunity!

My three favorite pieces of furniture were all FREE and found in neighborhood trash piles. How cool is that?! I have a special place in my heart for mid-century modern design, and have had some major luck scoring some beautiful pieces.

My most favorite is this high quality desk I found last summer while on a walk in our new neighborhood.

The owner of the house was outside and told me I could have it, so immediately ran home to get the SUV. I was so excited and knew it would look perfect in my DIY home office nook. Isn’t she a beaut?

I love the wood finish and decided to keep it exactly the same. I styled it with a few items and paired it with my modern chair and sheepskin throw from Hayneedle.

Another favorite piece is this cool cabinet that our next door neighbors had in their trash pile. I excitedly rescued it one evening, and knew it would eventually find the perfect spot in our house!

I sat untouched for a year in our old dining room nook until I had the perfect plan for it.

During our big kitchen remodel we removed some walls and flip-flopped the dining and upstairs living room, and the nook turned into my home office. The cabinet stayed, but got a little facelift when I painted the drawer fronts white to brighten and break up the wood a little bit.

It’s the perfect office storage piece. I styled it with some bright pieces of art, a lamp, and some other accessories. I love the pops of color in this space.

I love the corner plant stand, which brings in more color and personality.

And lastly, here is the mid-century dresser I scored from some of our other previous neighbor’s trash pile.

This dresser got painted and originally lived in our daughter’s DIY nursery in our previous house.

It now resides in the master bedroom at our current house.

I took this dresser over for myself and also use the top to organize my jewelry and some accessories.

Like I said…I’ve had some good luck with neighborhood trash piles, haha!

Do you have any favorite furniture pieces in your home that you absolutely love? Better yet, have you scored anything from a trash pile…or is that just me?
