DIY // GOLD PAINT DRIP PUMPKINS

I don’t know about you, but I am so excited that fall is almost here!! It’s my FAVORITE.

I’ve already started DIYing some fall projects this weekend (way earlier than ever before), and here is my first one—gold paint drip pumpkins!

These are based off of the paint drip pumpkins I did last year, but this year I bought two plastic pumpkins (since it’s only August and all, ha). Also last year’s real ones didn’t last too long before they needed to be thrown away.

All you need are some real or plastic pumpkins, some brushed/matte gold and metallic gold spray paint, and a drop cloth of some sort.

Take your pumpkins, spray them with the matte paint, and let them dry. I like this brushed gold paint with the primer built in for best coverage in one coat.

Originally I thought I’d stop with the simple brushed gold pumpkins, but they felt too plain to me, so I decided to add the drips! I love the end result.

To achieve the look all you do is take your metallic gold spray paint and spray tons of paint at the top stem area until it starts dripping down the pumpkin. Do this until you are happy with the look. Let it dry all of the way. Even when dry, it still has the wet drippy paint look. So fun!

Note: I spray painted outside in the almost 100 degree heat, which dried them very quickly, but caused some bubbling in the paint. I should have painted them in my basement for a more even, mirrored gold effect. Oopsies, but oh well.

I bought a few cute glass pumpkins (50% off- yay), and I can’t wait until it’s time to display them. Do you have any fall projects you are already working on? Or am I the only crazy one around here? Don’t answer that. 🙂
